Philosophy

"Know-how" and "terroir" are our heritage, our only real assets. It is essential to preserve them.

By conviction, our cultivation methods respect the soil and living organisms. Great wines cannot be made unless the vines are cultivated in such a way as to produce healthy, ripe, balanced grapes.

"A great wine is made with beautiful grapes, by allowing the forces of the Earth to express themselves."

The vineyards of Domaines Grand Veneur, Clos de Sixte and Chateau Mazane are cultivated according to organic farming protocols.

  • Soils are maintained exclusively by shallow ploughing and supported by plant composts.
  • Yields are low or controlled.
  • To promote aeration of the bunches, we thin out the leaves manually around the edges of the grapes, only on the side facing the rising sun.
  • Hand-picked grapes are sorted bunch by bunch.
  • After careful ageing, the wines are only slightly clarified to respect the character of each terroir. A slight natural deposit may form at the bottom of the bottle, a sign of their richness and vitality.

Great wines through time...

A wine's ability to age distinguishes between "fashionable wines" and those that can be described as "wines of the future".

Can we be satisfied with a wine that has been elevated to the rank of Cru and yet cannot stand the test of time? A wine that has prematurely evolved after only 3 or 4 years?

Our terroirs enable us to produce intense, well-balanced wines with excellent ageing potential. A wine should be good from an early age, but its true greatness can only be judged over time.
